This Week's Radio and -Alison "Abby" Goldbaurn, com- munity affairs associate with De- troit's Jewish Community Council, has been awarded the Fay Karpf Essay Award in Jewish Communal Service for her essay on "Why Jewish Social Work." At the same time, Mrs. Goldbaum received a certificate in Jewish communal studies from the th Hebrew Union Col- lege's school of Jewish communal service. In her essay, Mrs. Goldbaum pointed to her work with Coun- cil's community relations com- mittee in generating Jewish com- munitywide concern for and solu- tions to pressing problems which affect both Jews and non-Jews. She noted: "In an age when many Jews - are retreating from temporal universal concerns, I feel that a few questions must be posed in terms of Judaism's role in today's world. Will Jews continue to cope creativelywith those prob- lems of human existence which still plague mankind? Will Jews see a linkage between the survival of Judaism and Judaism's proven ability, in the past, to solve human problems? Within this set of ques- tions lies an enormous challenge for me in my role as a Jewish social- worker in the community i relations field." - Television Programs REFLECTIONS IN SOUND MAX SCHRUT For Good Photographs Gad Prompt Service can Aim at BLAIR STUDIO - and his ORCHESTRA Weddimis .
