Dr. Dale B. Kellon of the de-
partment of hematology at the
City of Hope Medical Center, has
been appointed to the Sheldon C.
Glass Leukemia Research Fellow-
ship Foundation.
The research fellowship was
founded in 1968 by the friends and
relatives of Sheldon Glass, 33-
year-old son of Detroiters Mr. and
Mrs. Samuel Glass, who died of
leukemia - while an attorney with
the Justice Department in Wash-
ington.
Detroit attorney Steven Schwartz,
one of Sheldon's close friends,
who worked with him in the Jus-
tice Department, is administrator
of the Sheldon C. -Glass Founda-
tion.
Sheldon's father, Samuel, is a
member of the board of directors
of the Detroit Businessmen's
Group, City of Hope, whose 59th
annual champagne dinner-dance
will be held Nov. 7 at the Raleigh
House. -
Before joining the City of Hope
at Duarte, Calif., in 1969, Dr.
Kellon served on the staff of Mt.
Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and
Kern General Hospital in Bakers-
field, Calif.
Dr. Kellon was part of the team
at the City of Hope that discovered
a new method for extending the
safe storage of blood for trans-
fusions.
