Hundreds of. Detrofters displayed
their interest in Israel's productive
efforts_by attending the miniature
trade fair, fashion show and ex-
hibition-of art works by Israelis,
at the -Zionist Cultural Center in
Southfield, Saturday night and
Sunday.
It was a. magnificent adjunct to
the Mediterranean Festival that
was sponsored by Winkelman's
and which also featured Israel—
primarily through the exhibit of
art by Shalom at the Art Insti-
tute.
At the Zionist Cultural Center,

of Detroit, as part of the "Buy
Israel Products" campaign, Saks
Fifth Avenue had -a special ex-
hibit of Israeli fashions. illen's
clothes made in Israel—a large
assortment of men's suits, jackets
and pants, a. colorful collection of
men's ties and other Items—were
displayed by Princeton Shop. •
Other merchants, including food
suppliers, who provided Israel.
made products, included Greenfield
Noodle and • Specialty Company,
Kitchen Maid Foods, Raskin Food
Company and Borenstein's Book
Store.
The art show was by Kingsley
Gallery and a special display of
jewelry by the Big Surprise of
Port Huron.
A special attraction was the
display of Israel stamps and coins

There also was a sale of cotton
candy by Brian and Mitchell Lover
who donated 50 per cent of their
sales to the ZOD.
There were refreshments—Israel
falafel was cooked on the spot
by Sam the falafel maker, and
many of the customers stayed for
hours, getting nourishing food,
viewing the many exhibits, making
purchases.

The show opened formally on
Saturday night when Mayor Nor-
man Feder of Southfield cut the
ribbon, and viewers began to pour
in.
- With Mesdames Carmi M.
Slomovitz and 'Joel Hamburger as
co-chairmen of the arrangements
committee, there were numerous
volunteers who manned the dis-
plays and helped in the Sales-
Mesdames Slomovitz and Ham-
burger decorated the hall for the
event and the enthusiasm augured
well—so the customers said—for
the city wide Israel Trade Fair of
the Detroit Zionist Federation,
Scheduled to be held at the Shaarey
Zedek in April For that event,
planned for a four-day period, to
culminate with the annual Israel
Independence Day cerebration —
the 24th to be marked next April—
all Zionist organizations, affiliates
of the Detroit Zionist Federation,
will be co-sponsors.
Cared M. Slomovitz, president of
the Detroit Zionist Federation, said
the. DZF corporate members—
there already are five leading De-
troit congregations that are cor-
porate Zionist Federation members
—are expected to cooperate in the
sponsorship of the trade fair, with
the ;Shaarey Zedek ,affiliates as a'
major co-sponsor. •
