Jewish day school has been opened
here under Conservative sponsor-
ship with a kindergarten and first
grade classes. The Menorah Day
School is sponsored by Menorah
Temple, according to Rabbi Meyer
Abramowitz who is the school ad-
ministrator. The initial faculty
consists of two teachers. Rabbi
Abramowitz said that in the first
four weeks after the day school
plan was announced, more than
30 pupils were registered for the
initial two grades.

and chairman of the board of
Kelter-Thorner Insurance, Inc.,
died Sept. 3 at age 74.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Kelter,
16500 North Park, Southfield, was
a 70-year resident of Detroit. He
founded the insurance agency at
24600 Northwestern in 1930. He
was a member of Temple Beth El.
He leaves his wife, Irene; two
sons, Theodore Jr. and Don; two
sisters, Mr. Lillian Brook and
Mrs. Barbara Komer; and 10
grandchildren.
