Gentile German Sisters
Give $50,000 to JNF

DUSSELDORF — Two elderly
non-Jewish German sisters have
given their entire life savings—
about $50,000—to the Jewish Na-
tional Fund.
The donation was made after
the sisters read "My People, the
Story of the Jews" by Israeli For-
eign Minister Abba Eban. The
book was a JNF gift to the sisters •
for being regular contributors in -
recent years.
They are now living on their

age. Sharef said devaluation
should cause no more than a 4
per cent increase in contractors'
costs.

Meanwhile, the price control
board was at a loss to control or
rollback the prices being asked
for synagogue seats for the high
holidays. Many complaints have
been received that the seat prices
have been hiked from 10 to 30 per
cent over last year although there
is no foreign currency component
involved as in other goods and
services that have been subjected
to price rises. But the board can
find no regulation applicable to
synagogue seats.
