OUR FAMOUS STEAK SIZZLER

Songstress Lainie Kazan said at
her cafe opening at Century Plaza
Hotel's Westside Room in Los An-
geles that she was happy with the
production in Yugoslav,ia of her
very first motion picture, "Romance
of a Horsethief," in which she
portrayed a gypsy-proprietor of a
bordello in the Pale of Settlement
in Czarist Russia of yesteryear.
The film stars Eli Wallach in the
title role, with author-performer
David Opatoshu, Jane Birkin and
Oliver Tobias as members of the
Jewish community, and Yul Bryn-
ner as the Cossack leader who
makes their lives m i s e r a b l e.
Lainie, who is outspoken obout
her heritage, deplored the fact that
the producer and director of the
movie didn't have the courage to
make the film on a specific Jewish
theme.

Angeles. The story was filmed
by Francois Reichenbach, Acad-

maker and describes a two-month,
crosscountry, party-concert, life-
style adventure of 154 children
who drop in on their folks. It is in
the "Woodstock" genre, another
promotion of Fred Weintraub.
