jack Hornfield, 55;
Oak Park Butcher

Jack Hornfield, co-owner of
Eibelman and Hornfield Meats,
25254 Greenfield, Oak Park, died
Aug. 21 at age 55.
Mr. Hornfield, a trustee of the
Meat Dealers Association, was a
member of Cong. Bnai David,
Mosaic Lodge of the Masons, Mos-
lem Tample and Downtown Fox
Lodge of Dnai Brith, and was a
former Oak Park auxiliary police-
man He was born in Toronto arid
lived in the Detroit area for 20
years. His residence was at 24221
Beverly, Oak Park.
Surviving are his wife, Helen;
two sons, Jon of California and
Thomas; and a brother, Alex, and
two sisters, Mrs. Sam (Rose) Roe-
buck and Mrs. Max (Edith) Good-
man, all of Toronto.

Louis Rose, Head
of Building Firm

Louis Rose, founder and owner
of Louis Rose Builders of Oak
Park, died Aug. 24. He was 75.
Born in Europe, he settled in
Denver in 1912 before moving to
Detroit in 1914. He was in the
U.S. Army during World War I.
Mr. Rose, who lived at 22722
N. Bellwood, Southfield, was a
past officer and board member
of the Hebrew Benevolent Society.
He is survived by his wife, Tilly;
two sons, Saul and Joseph; two
daughters, Mrs. Joseph Neder-
lander and Mrs. Saul Waldman;
a brother, Edward; a sister, Mrs.
Molly Kozak and 12 grandchildren.

Norman Solomon, 55;
Steel Co. Manager

Norman Solomon, an engineer
and superintendent manager of
the rolling mills division of Great
Lake Steel Corp.. died Aug. 21 at
age 55.
Mr. Solomon, who was employed
by Great Lakes for 111 years, was
a native of Pittsburgh and lived
in the Detroit area 15 years. He
was a member of the Masons and
Shriners.
Surviving are his wife, Gisela,
23527 Coach Light, Southfield; two
sons, Louis and Edward; two
daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Deborah)
Yashinsky and Beatrice; a step-
son, Alan Moser; a sister, Mrs.
Abe (Celma) Abes of Butler, Pa.;
and one grandchild.

Local Pharmacist

Maurice H. Becker, a pharma-
cist with Cunningham Drug Stores
and a member of the Aesculapian
Pharmaceutical Society, died Aug.
21 at age 72.
Mr. Becker, 19130 Santa Bar-
bara, was a native of Cleveland.
He belonged to Union Lodge of
the Masons, Temple Israel and
Zager-Stone Lodge of Bnai Brith.
Surviving are his wife, Esther;
two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Iris)
Zevin of New York and Sherry;
a sister, Mrs. Theresa Werbe;
and one brother and four sisters
of Cleveland.

Ben Madvin, Clothier

Ben W. Madvin, owner of Fash-
ion Clothes, 1490 Broadway and
in the Fox Theater Bldg., died
Wednesday at age 63.
Mr. Madvin, born in Austria,
lived in the Detroit area for the
past 50 years. He was a member
of Bnai Brith.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothea;
two sons, Martin and Gary of
Woodland Hills, Calif.; and seven
grandchildren.
