THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS 32—Friday, July 16, 1971 Geriatric Care Institute Is Recruiting New Nurses NEW YORK—Opportunities for nursing careers will be offered at the new Jewish Institute for Geria- tric Care (JIGC) when it opens this fall, it was announnced here by Sidney ,Feinberg, executive di- rector, and Charles Gross, presi- dent. The new director of nursing, Mrs. Sonya Hirschberg, is actively recruiting a nursing staff to sup- plement a cadre of nurses who will come to the JIGC from the Home and Hospital of the Daughters of Israel, the 55-year-old sponsor of the institute. The home will close when the new Institute opens. The $25,000,000 JIGC, a 527-bed facility located at New Hyde Park, New York, is the nation's first medical-geriatric-psychiatric com- plex. Anna- Maria. The settlers include 47 profes- sionals, 13 skilled and semi-skilled workers and five businessmen. One family has eight children. More than 23,000 Americans have settled in Israel in the four years since June 1967 as compared with 16,000 in the 19 years, 1948- 67.
