ARTHUR BOSCHAN of Lincoln Ave., Hunt- ington Woods, and JACK SHENK- MAN of Sherbourne Rd., were among 15 leaders selected from communities across the continent to serve three-year terms on the national advisory body. * * * Dr. ALBERT B. SABIN, presi- dent of the Weizmann Institute of Science, received an honorary doc- torate from Tel Aviv University for "his dedication to the fields of preventive medicine and medi- cal research to which he has de- voted a lifetime of service." Saul Carson, Veteran JTA UN Correspondent DEERFIELD PARK, Fla. (JTA) —Saul Carson, veteran New York and Philadelphia newsman and United Nations correspondent for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, died here Sunday night after a brief illness. Ile was 76. Mr. Carson, who was born in Russia, was the JTA's UN corres- pondent and staff reporter from 4953 until his retirement two years ago. A founder of the Philadelphia Newspaper Guild in the 1930's, he came to New York with the closing of the Philadelphia Public Ledger where he was labor editor. In New York, he served on tilt staff of the. New York Journal American, the newspaper PM, and was a contributing editor to Time magazine. He was a member of the radio-TV staff of Variety from 1944 - 1947, an executive editor of Billboard magazine from 1950•- 1954, and was among the country's first radio-TV columnists for the New Republic. Mr. Carson also served as pub- licity director of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities and the Association of Jewish Social Workers. He was the author of numerous magazine articles and of two books, "Of Human Free- dom" and "Return to the Root.". He and his wife, the former Bettina Dayna, moved from New York City to Winter Park, Fla., several months ago.
