not taking the risk!
And if one of our students does
not learn well enough to become a
talmudic authority or a Rhodes
scholar, he will surely learn the
loving kindness behind "gemilut

fulfill himself. You see, our stu-
dents are really teachers, as well
as pupils, in that respect, too. And
what better way can there be to
receive an education?

By SHARON ROSE
Throughout my years at Akiva
Hebrew Day School, I have often
been asked to explain my views
on day school education. I've been
asked why my parents and I have
have chosen Akiva above all
others.
I have and will continue to an-
swer them: There is a unique, al-
most indescribable feeling that
makes our school "tick." If you
should ever visit Akiva or speak
with our students it will become
apparent that Akiva is a small
school whose drive, spirit and
warmth have made up for its size.
This school has successfully
mixed Jewish and general studies
with companionship in a formula
that has yielded "Yiddishe
Nahas." There is definitely some-
thing beautiful here; yet it can't
always be labeled.
Next year, Akiva will be adding
a nursery and a senior high school
program. This is a seemingly im-
practical step. But we know that
with what our school has proven
