Samuel Soss, 78;
Headed Company

Samuel Soss, former president of
Soss Manufacturing Co., now a
part of SOS Consolidated, died
Tuesday at age 78.
Mr. Soss, 16500 N. Park, South-
field, was a member of Temple
Beth El, Franklin Hills Country
Club, Great Lakes Club and De-
troit Consistory 1 Knights Temp-
lar. Born in Cleveland, he lived in
the Detroit area 31 years.
Survivors are his wife, Sidney;
four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Bar-
bara) Marko, Mrs. Nathan (Mar-
jorie) Groce and Laurel, both of
Phoenix and Mrs. Michael (Lis-
beth) Fried; and seven grandchil-
dren.

Flom's President,
Seymour Tarnoff

Seymour Tarnoff, president of
Flom's Corp., 8311 Fenkell, and
past president and a founder of
Cong. Beth Shalom, died June 5
at age 47. Flom's. is a dry cleaning
supply company.
Mr. Tarnoff, 22155 Sussex, Oak
Park, was a native Detroiter. He
was a charter member of Bloch
Lodge, Bnai Brith.
Surviving are his wife, Esther; a
son, Paul; two daughters, Barbara
and Debra; his mother, Mrs. Rose
Tarnoff; and a brother, George.

Golding, 51;
of Produce Company

Gilbert Golding, secretary-treas-
urer of the A. Harris Co., whole-
sale produce dealers, died June 9
at age 51.
Mr. Golding, 24525 Lee Baker,
Southfield, was a native Detroiter.
A World War II veteran, he was
a member of Cong. Beth Achim
and Craftsman Lodge of the
Masons.
He leaves his wife, Belrose; a
son, Richard; a daughter, Cheryl;
his mother, Mrs. Max Sosnick;
and two brothers, Michael and
Ervin.

Barbara Ochs Adler, 68

NEW YORK - Barbara Adler,
widow of Maj. Gen. Julius Ochs
Adler, former vice president and
general manager of the New York
Times, died June 3 at age 68.
A member of the New York Jew-
ish Board of Guardians, Mrs. Adler
was involved in many philanthropic
and civic activities, particularly
those relating to penology. She
was vice president of the Correc-
tional Association of New York
and a board member of the Na-
tional Probation and Parole Asso-
ciation.

Norman Lee, Age 73

Norman Lee, owner for 45 years
of Norman Lee's Department
Store, 9424 Joseph Campau, Ham-
tramck, died Sunday at age 73.
Mr. Lee, 18272 Santa Barbara,
was a native of Russia and lived
in Detroit for half a century. An
original member of Hebrew Bene-
volent Society, he was known to
have helped many people start
out in business or to purchase a
home.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie;
three sons, Dr. Martin of Blooms-
burg, Pa., Dr. Lawrence and Dr.
Robert; and six grandchildren.

Beney Kittner, 85

Beney Kittner, a retired car-
penter who belonged to several
Jewish communal organizations,
died June 4 at age 85.
Mr. Kittner, 23130 Parklawn,
Oak Park, was a member of
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, Hebrew
Benevolent Society, Cong. Mishkan
Israel Nusach Hari and Carp-en-
ters Union Local 1513. Born in
Russia, Mr. Kittner came to this
country '57 years ago.
Survivors are his wife, Anna ; a
son, Nathan; a daughter, Mrs.
Daniel (Emily) Arnold; land four
grandchildren.

who died May 29, was active in
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, Ner .
I s r a e 1, Rabbinical College in"-
Baltimore, and Torah Schools for:
Israel.
Mr. Nusbaum, who was 59, . ∎also
was on the board of the Hebrew
Benevolent Society. These or-
ganizations had not been listed
in the obituary notice, which ap
pared June 4.
