24 KARAT CLUB has been sold
. . . New owner is cousin to Sam
Hadous, bossman at Lofy's.
REAL INFORMAL is the word
for Charlie Brown's Sing-Along on
Kennett' near the intersection of
Telegraph and Oakland in Pontiac
. . . There's a pianist on Tuesday
through Thursday and a honky
tonk band on weekends . . . but
the informality comes with folks
tossing peanut shells on the floor
. .. They serve dinners there .. .
but actually specialize in sand-
wiches!
PERCH IS HARDLY one of the
most spectacular items listed on
local menus . . . It can be obtained
at numerous restaurants, but un-
fortunately in most places the
preparation is indifferent . . • There
are three spots we know of where
this simple dish is outstanding ...
London Chop House, Joe Muer's
and Dyer's Restaurant, an old and
honored institution in downtown
Toledo . . . In all three places, the
perch is sauteed in butter, a com-
mon method of cooking perch, but
the way they do it gives it just the
right touch . . . At the Chop House,
they add thin slices of almond for
a fine' appeal.
SPECIALTY OF THE house at
Ciungan's (pronounced Chin-gun)
is french fried shrimp . . . it is
located on Southfield in Ecorse ...
They also serve it five other ways
. shrimp creole, newburg, saute,
boiled and cold . . . . all are excel-
lent.
TRY A DELIGHTFUL Sherry
Cobbler . . . Fill a tumbler two-
thirds full of cracked ice . . .
Add a teaspoon each sugar and
orange juice . . . Fill with
sherry, stir slightly, decorate
with fruit and serve.
ALEX BARDI is the new owner
and name of former Wayne Walker
Steak House in the Gold Key Motel
on Grand Boulevard off the Lodge
Xway . . . (Also was Aged 'n
Rare) . . . The very popular Bobby
Laurel Trio has been signed by
Alex to open at the snot June 8.
