Bnai Brith to Present
Wexler With Goodby
Gift: 10,000 Members
WASHINGTON-A "going-away"
gift to Dr. William A. Wexler
when he retires in October as
international president of Bnai
Brith will be enrollment of 10,000
new members.
That's the goal of the Bnai Brith
membership cabinet, which has
established a "Dr. William A.
Wexler Honor Class" as a signif-
icant way to say "thank you" for
his six years as head of the
world's largest Jewish organiza-
tion.
Philip M. Klutznick, internation-
al president of Bnai Brith from
1953 to 1959, heads a special
"Honor Bill Wexler Committee"
of more than 100 that includes
former UN Ambassador Arthur
Goldberg; Sens. Jacob Javits and
Abraham Ribicoff; Israel Ambas-
sador Itzhak Rabin and his pre-
decessor Avraham Harman, now
president of the Hebrew Univer-
sity; Federal Judges Simon Sobel-
off and Max Rosenn; and humor-
ist Sam Levenson.
The special campaign will
continue until Oct. 13, the 128th
anniversary of Bnai Brith and
opening day of its triennial con
vention in Philadelphia. Dr.
Wexler's successor will be elect-
ed at the convention.
Special campaign committees are
being established In Bnai Brith dis-
tricts here and abroad, said Sam
J. Stone, national chairman of the
membership cabinet, and lodges
in local communities are naming
Bill Wexler campaign chairmen
to promote the effort in their areas.
