When the state of Israel was established, Barmore became sec- retary-general of the ministry of JACOB BARMORE food and supply. In 1954 he joined the Foreign Ministry and served as first secretary of the Israel delegation in Warsaw. From 1963 to 1966, Barmore was consul general of Israel for the Midwest, with jurisdiction over 13 states. He served as Latin Amer- ican director of the Israel Foreign Office until 1969, when he was ap- pointed a permanent member of the Israel Mission to the United Nations. Glaucoma is an eye condition which afflicts adults mostly over age 35. Glaucoma is responsible for blindness in one out of every eight adults and is the leading preventable cause of sight loss or impairment. Early detection is possible by a simple test. The purpose of the glaucoma clinics is to provide a preliminary examination to determine if a person is suspected of having this disorder.
