Barmore to Speak at Bond Function
Honoring Farband Leader Levine

Levine has been active in the
community for nearly 50 years.
He is a founder and past presi-
dent of the Pinsker Progressive
Aid Society. He is a past president
and a member for 35 years of

was the first secretary of the Jew-
ish Community Council and for 12
years was the news commentator
for Histadrut on the Jewish Radio
Hour. He is a member of the board
of Hebrew Benevolent Society.
Levine lived in Israel for two
years and has made frequent visits
to the Jewish state. He has been
active in the Israel Bond campaign
since its initiation, 20 years ago,
and has been a frequent speaker
for Israel Bonds and for many
other Jewish causes.

prominence in Brazil. Jaime Ler-
ner, son of Polish-Jewish immi-
grants, took office as mayor of
Curitiba, the eighth largest city

became the first woman ever to
be appointed as dean of the Social
Science Faculty of Catholic Uni-
versity in Rio de Janeiro.
