to Take Place in June

MRS. JAY KOHLENBERG

Joan Lee Walter became the
bride of Jay Robert Kohlenberg in
a noon ceremony Sunday at the
Hotel Pontchartrain. Rabbi M.
Robert Syme and Cantor Harold
Orbach officiated.
The couple's parents are Mr.
and Mrs. John J. Walter of Stras-
burg Ave. and Mr. and Mrs. David
Kohlenberg of Coyle Ave.
The bride wore a silk organza-
over-taffeta gown with flared skirt,
fitted bodice, bishop sleeves and
high collar. A bib and cuffs of
peau d'ange lace were trimmed
with pink velvet ribbon, interlaced
with Venise lace. Instead of a veil,
she wore a pink velvet headpiece
and carried a pink and white car-
nation nosegay, with baby's breath.
Mrs. James E. Jambriska, sis-
ter of the bride, was matron of
honor. Daniel Kohlenberg, brother
of the bridegroom, was best man.
The couple will honeymoon in
Acapulco.

Miss Bach is on a coast-to-coast
tour with her latest production, a
series of costumed monologues
bringing to life the mothers of
such figures as John Wilkes Booth,
the Wright Brothers, Mohandas
Gandhi and Henrietta Szold. Miss
Bach has researched, written and
produced her own production,
changing before the audience as
she assumes each personality.

Rosalyn Rives to Be
Leon Schoichit's Bride

MISS PATTY REISTMAN
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice B. Reist-
man of Lancaster Rd., Southfield,
announce the engagement of their
duaghter Patty Sharon to Howard
M. Maziar, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Maziar of Atlanta.
Miss Reistman is a graduate Of
the University of Michigan and
holds a masters degree from Bos-
ton University's graduate school
of social work. Her fiance is a
graduate of Tulane University and
is entering his senior year in the
Medical College of Georgia.
Their wedding will take place
in June.

Mother's Day Marked
Around the World

Mother's Day is celebrated on
the second Sunday of May—that's
May 9 this year—in virtually every
country in the-world, according to
Interflora, the worldwide floral
-deliver network.
However, there are some ex-
ceptions. The occasions is observed
at different times in France, Po-
land, Spain, Hungary, Sweden and
Great Britain.
Interflora, which is composed of
more than 37,000 florists in some
130 countries, reports that Moth-
er's Day is one of the major occa-
sions during the year for sending
flowers to mothers.

A Star Is Born—She's Sw imming at 6 Months -

The expression "like mother,
like daughter" took on a novel
aspect when Detroit-born Mrs. San-
ford Porneranz taught 6-month-old
Jennifer to swim in the YWCA
pool in Topeka, Kan,
Mrs. Pomerantz, the former
Francine Reid, is a graduate of
Wayne State University, as is her
husband, a psychiatrist with the
Menninger Foundation in Topeka.
The unusual feat, written up at
length in the Topeka newspaper,
was credited to the special rela-
tionship between mother and child
—a combination of patient parent
and trusting baby who likes the
water.

former council president who has
