Photo Exhibit Tells Dramatic Story of UJA

An exhibit of photographs, mo-
tion pictures and a slide presenta-
tion, depicting the deep involve-
ment of American Jewry in aiding
the Jews of Israel and of other
lands, is now in the lobby of the
Jewish Center until April 20.
The walk-in gallery is open to
the public without charge.
Literature explaining the pro-
grams and services supported by
the 1971 Allied Jewish Campaign-
Israel Emergency Fund through
the United Jewish Appeal to help
Jews throughout the world will be
available.

• Volunteers will staff the ex-
hibit during public meetings at
the Center to answer questions
and explain the program.

The display is an original de-
sign by Lynch Exhibits of New
Jersey and was commissioned by
the UJA. Donald Scout, a member
of the Lynch staff, came to Detroit
to aid in installation of the 20 by
30-foot module.
The 1971 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign-Israel Emergency Fund in
Detroit opened Thursday and will
run until May 5.

Funds, raisi:d through the Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency:-Fund in Detroit help make life more pleasant for needy Jews
throutliont the world. The children shown above have learned to
play with toys—something they never had at home—in the kinder-
gartens supported by campaign dollars. Altogether, there are three
such kindergartens in Iran which accommodate 850 pre-schoolers. In
addition to day-long programs, the children get their main meal of
the day and they also receive periodic health exams and clothing.
In the bottom photo, an elderly Moroccan Jew enjoys the view
from his new apartment provided with funds from the campaign. As
Jews left Morocco, their places in the ghetto areas were taken by
Arabs, and the remaining Jews, mostly old, ailing and in need, were
soon surrounded by hostile neighbors. These Jews are being settled
in-new apartments in a different part of the city.
