eration, Zionist Organization of
Detroit, Association of Americans
and Canadians for Aliya (AACA),
Americans for Progressive Israel
and Council of Orthodox Rabbis.
Paul Stark, a member of AACA,
who with his wife and three chil-
dren will emigrate this summer,
told the audience that "I antici-
pate aggravation, plenty of it, but
once the initial period is over and
I'm absorbed into the mainstream
of Israeli life, I know I'll feel it
was well worth the effort. I need
Israel more than Israel needs- me."
The AACA is a group of Amer-
icans who, upon joining, express
the commitment to make aliya
within three years. Its members
help each other over the hurdles
of making such a step. Lev, the
guest speaker, also warned of
the hardships awaiting the immi-
grant but urged his listeners to
"come home—to live a full Jew-
ish life, a life of fulfillment."
Other participants were Dr. Ami
Glasman and Prof. M. Czudnow-
ski, Israeli academicians; Joseph
Shavit, Mordekhai Peled, Michelle
Kaplan and Zeev Ben-David, rep-
resenting the Israel Aliya Centers
nationally and regionally; Laible
Hoffmitz, regional director of the
Labor Zionist Organization, and
Margalit and Eliav Naharin from
the Center Hebrew department.

B-Day for Bonds

On some calendars Thursday was
April Fool's Day.
On calendars of the Department
of the Treasury and in dozens of
offices and plants it was B Day—
B for bonds—the start of a cam-
paign to step up purchases of U.S.
savings bonds in Wayne, Oakland,
and Macomb counties.
During the next two months a
concerted effort will be made by
management and labor to sign up
85,000 persons who are employed
in the tri-county area as new pay-
roll savings plan participants or
for increased savings bonds allot-
ments. More than 320,000 current-
ly are on the rolls.
The 1971 local dollar goal for
bond purchases is $197,700,000.
