THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS 34—Friday, April 2, 1971 Rabbi Silverman's Interpretation of Reform Judaism Rabbi William B. Silverman of Kansas City provides a valuable definition of Reform Judaism in his interpretative "Base Reform Ju- daism," published by Philosophi- cal Library. He touches upon every aspect of Reform Jewish experience and does not ignore the problems that are confronted by Reform in Is- rael. He believes it to be inevitable for Reform Judaism to come to Israel. He states that it may not be called "Reform" there but that "undoubtedly it will be a type of liberal or progressive Judaism which will be indigenous to the people, the state and the land." He envisions new directions for the movement and in relation to current happenings and new de- velopments he asserts: "For the Jew it has been, is and MRS.
