Morse is a member of the House

a cosponsor of the visa legislation,
originally introduced March 4 by
Reps. Edward I. Koch (D-N.Y.)
and Gilbert Gude (R-Md.) That bill
was subsequently withdrawn and
amended to provide visas for eth-

has 47 cosponsors to date.
More pointed out that Congress
had in the past put through special
legislation to aid refugees, as in
the cases of Hungarians in 1956,
Czechoslovakians in 1968 and Cu-
bans since 1967. He contended that
even if the Soviets permitted Jew-
ish emigration on a modest scale,
the present American quota for
Eastern Hemisphere refugees —
10,200 a year — would be inadequ-
ate.

Preparations were completed for the start of the Eichmann trial
April 11. Premier Ben-Gurion stated: "The heavy burden of the Nazi
Holocaust . . . rests not only on Nazi Germany. It rests also on
England, France and the United States, which could have saved those
Jews who fled toward Israel but were not permitted to land here . . .
Eichmann's personal fate is unimportant. It is the unveiling of the
entire extermination program against the Jews that matters."
West German Defense Minister Franz Josef Strauss ordered the
Army's education authorities to teach German soldiers about Jewish
contributions to their country, so as "to restore the record of history."
Gunther Fuchs, former Gestapo "Jewish expert" in Lodz, Poland,
was indicted in Frankfurt for responsibility in the murder of "about
100,000 Jews." Otto Haupt, former SS medical officer, was arrested
near Stuttgart and charged with complicity in 1,000 Jewish deaths.
'Brazilian President Janio Quadros ordered public school dic-
tionaries cleansed of terms "offensive to various races, nations or

for "rabbi."
The Ashkenazi Jewish community of Amsterdam marked its 325th
anniversary.
Dr. Emmanuel Weyss-Levi warned Italian Jewish women against
using lipstick made with insect powder, noting that "since part of the
cosmetic is often involuntarily swallowed by its users, and often by
men, too, it is not kosher, like pork."
