Chairing the ceremony, Univer- sity Vice President Bernard Cher- rick . recalled that his own memo- ries of the garden dated back to pre-state Israel when he remem- bered seeing the late Martin Buber and the late Eliezer Sukenik stroll there and relax on the large stone bench which will soon again be a feature of the garden. MONTREAL (JTA) — Patients scheduled for release from the Jewish General Hospital here who require continued long-term care now are given expert help in place- ment in another facility. The new program of placement is provided through a joint intake committee of six medical facility affiliates of the Allied Jewish Com- munity Services, the central agen- cy for Montreal Jewry. A committee reviews the situa- tion of each patient scheduled for discharge from the general hospi- tal and decides which of the facili- ties is best suited to his or her needs. This procedure also pro- vides for most effective use of beds in accordance with the patient's needs, and it is a time saver for both the applicant and his family and the medical institutions. One application and a prompt review of it has replaced duplicate appli- cations and much time and effort in reviewing them.
