Given the choice of settling on a farm or going to the ghetto, the Heislers chose the latter, in Podgrabiye. When the roundups began, the Heislers were sheltered by Maria Kepa and her family with the aid of a neighbor, Franciszek Siwek. The Heislers were protected in an underground shelter under the Kepa home. During the entire time, Siwek had possession of the Heisler's goods. He sold items when neces- sary to obtain food for them and newspapers to inform them of what was going on in the outside world. After the Heislers came to this country, they kept up a correspon- dence with Siwelc. In. appreciation for his deeds, the Heislers brought him here for a vacation in Novem- ber 1969. Their story was described in the Jewish News. OBITUARIES THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Fridgy, March 26, 1971-SS ANNA LEVITT, 29140 Point 0 GEORGE W.
