IT WAS 14 YEARS ago when
Anita Gold (Mrs. Phil) was the
art teacher at Detroit's Vanden-
berg School and one of her stu-
dents, little Jimmy Niekamp,
rocking back in his chair, fell and
hit his head severely enough to be
hospitalized . . . Anita never did
find out what happened to little
Jimmy since soon after she took
a maternity leave . . . Over the
years, whenever their youngsters,
Lisa, Howard or David, would
rock back in a chair, mommy An-
ita would repeat the story of what
happened to little Jimmy . . . Re-
cently, all five Golds, great hockey
fans, went to a Detroit Red Wing
game at Olympia and on the for-
ward line with Gordie Howe and
Alex Delvecchio was a new play-
er . . . big 6'2" Jimmy Niekamp!
POPULAR YETTA MELTON is
manicurist now with Shelley Lover
at Charter House Barbers on Nine
Mile Rd., Southfield . . . a couple
of gals who really know what to
do when they hold your hands!
NOTE TO . . . Joy Hakanson,
art critic at the Detroit News .. .
Don't know where you got your
info about art auctions, but the
facts written by you were so gross-
ly twisted that we would advise
more of an investigation . . . One
of the fellows you mentioned is a
very honest businessman who
handles his operation with extreme
legitimacy . . . Art auctions are
among the most legitimate methods
used to raise funds . . . and many
worthy organizations are deeply -
grateful for their existence!
ANNOUNCEMENTS HAVE been
sent out on the Sammy Woolf Tes-
timonial Dinner-Dance, May 25,
and if you haven't received one it
doesn't mean, you're not invited
. . everyone is . . The $17.50
per includes hors d'oevres, dinner,_
dancing, entertainment and
limited liquor . . . For tickets,'
call Maurice Cohen, 345-6800, Dr.
Allan Nickamin, 352-4260, Irving
Silk, 358-4030 or Lou Babcock,
353-4266.
MARIAN KEPES told 5-year-
old daughter Linda, that she want-
ed to take a nap and to please
not slam the door when she went
out .. . Later, Marian overheard
'little Linda tell her friend; "You
close the door, Suzie, you make
a quieter noise than I do!"
THAT CANDIDATE for office in
Oak Park won't get too many votes
throwing litter out of his car win-
dow!
SALLY IS A CUTE little tot in
the neighborhood and always tries
hard to be mother's helper . . .
But last week her well-meaning
desire sort of backfired on the
household . , . When mother
Roslyn Shelman (Ray's wife) re-
turned from shopping, little Sally
thought she'd sort of surprise her
by washing the canned goods and
removing the labels . . . She did!
. . . And when Roslyn reprimanded
her, Sally replied, "But you told
daddy over the phone that we were
going to eat out of the can and I
wanted them to be nice and clean!"

. . Sally is 4 years old.

To tolerate is to insult.—Goethe.
