Mrs. George Orley,
Active Clubwoman

Celia Orley, life and past board
member of the United Hebrew
Schools Women's Auxiliary, died
March 11 at age 73.

Mrs. Orley, 20764 Knob Woods,
Southfield, was a member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek and its sisterhood,
Hadassah board of directors,
American Jewish Congress, wom-
en's auxiliary of Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity and Women's American ORT.
Born in Russia, she was a Detroit
area resident 60 years.

Survivors are her husband,
George; two sons, Joseph and
Graham; a daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Rhea) Brody; two brothers, Jack
Goldberg and Albert Galin; a sis-
ter, Mrs. Joseph (Ida) Levenson;
and 10 grandchildren.

OBITUARIES

NEW YORK - Maurice Eigen,

who directed the welfare fund cam-
paigns of the American Friends
of the Hebrew University and the
American Technion Society, died
March 1 at age 59.
Mr. Eigen, who served with the
American Red Cross in Britain
in World War II, represented the
American Jewish Joint Distribu-
tion Committee in caring for sur-
vivors of the Bergen-Belsen con-
centration camp on their liberation
in 1945. After the war, he was as-
sistant director of the Hebrew Im-
migrant Aid Society (HIAS) until
1956, when he joined the American
Friends of the Hebrew University.
His widow, the former Edna
Cooper, is coordinator of commu-
nity and volunteer services for the
New York section of the National
Council of Jewish Women.
