Purim Revelry to Continue

Purim may be over, but the cele-
brations go on. This weekend, in
particular, a number of events are
scheduled.
The Jewish Center invites one
and all to its activities, which will
be held all day. The Michigan
Association of Jewish College Stu-
dents, Young Adult Group of the
Center, Wayne State University Hil-
lel Foundation and Bnai Moshe
Young Adult Group will sponsor
the annual "Hamantash-Latke De-
bate at 2 p.m. in Room 384. A chil-
dren's dance concert will be held
at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. in the teen
lounge. Other events will be a pre-
schoolers' carnival and masquer-
ade parade, family photo booth,
gift shops, Youth Quiz Bowl in the
lobby, hamantashen guessing con-
test with prizes and a cabaret-style
Nosherie. Purim goodies will be on
sale in Room 202.
(Shuttle bus transportation will
be available from the following
areas: Hillel Day School, 12:45
p.m.; United .Hebrew High School,
1 p.m.; and 10 Mile Jewish Center,
1:15 p.m.)

choir will perform. A new ap-
proach to the megila, based on
historians' opinions and discov-
eries, will be given by educator
Movsas Goldoftas, and Philip
lmber will present his own hu-
morous writings. Toastmaster
will be Louis Levine. Purim re-
freshments will be served by the
social committee, with Elke
Freedman, chairman. Nominal
contribution.

Bnai Brith Hillel Foundation at
Wayne State University will hold a
Purim dance 9 p.m. Saturday at
Hi llel House in the University Cen-
ter Building. There will be Purim
skits, entertainment and hamanta-
shen.
Goodfellowship Club will hold a
Purim dinner-party 6:30 p.m. Tues-
day at the James Couzens Hwy.
clubrooms. Chairman Jack Schech-
ter invites friends.
Bereznitzer Aid Society will hold
its annual Purim Mo'os Hitim fund-
raising dinner 6:30 p.m. Thursday
at Cong. Beth Hillel. Families and
friends are invited by Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Gottlieb, chairmen. Albert
Koss is co-chairman.
Zionist-Revisionists of Detroit are
sponsoring a Purim ball 9 p.m.
March 20 at Young Israel Center
of Oak-Woods. Supper will be
served, and there will be a floor
show and music by Eric Rosenow
and his Continentals. Friends are
invited. Proceeds go to the National
Israel Sick Fund. Tickets will be
available at the door.

The campus chaplaincy plans to
add a course each semester until
a full complement of courses in
religious studies will be available
at MCCC. For the fall semester,
plans are for a course in Bible as
literature. Later, courses in the
history of religion, the psychology
`bf religion, ethics and morality,
religious interaction in society and
others are planned. ,
Some courses will be fully trans-
ferable credit courses; others will
be noncredit, made available

through the division of continuing
education. The course in compara-
tive religion is a noncrediecourse.

WSU Scholarship
Memorializes Professor

The Walter Hoffman Scholarship
Fund in Computer Science with
Medical Application has been es-
tablished at Wayne State Univer-
sity—named in memory of Dr. Wal-
ter Hoffman, director of the WSU
Computing Center, and long-time
member of the WSU faculty.
Dr. Hoffman's widow, Evelyn,
established the fund through me-
morial gifts received from her hus-
band's relatives, friends and col-
leagues.
Dr. Hoffman, who live on Burton
Ave., Oak Park, had been a mem-
ber of the WSU faculy for 20 years
at the time of his death, Dec. 5,
1969. He was a former trustee and
president of the Oak Park School
Board.
