The encomia are in recognition of many years of dedicated labors for numerous causes and his con- tinuing role in association with the most important social services in Detroit. Born in Russia, Feb. 25, 1901, Lefton was brought to Detroit as an infant 'in 1904. He studied in the Detroit schools, was graduated from Central High School and continued his studies at Wayne State University. He was married to the former Celia Meistrich in 1928. They reside at 32500 Colony 11111, Franklin. They have one Three weeks ago, Lefton was honored by the Jewish Home for the Aged board of directors upon his retirement from its presidency. He had held numer- ous posts with the -Home for Aged. A past president of the Detroit Service Group, Lefton is among the most active men in the com- munity in Allied Jewish Campaigns in which he has held many posi- tions, including pre-campaign chairmanship. He is a former vice president of the Jewish Community Center, a former vice president of the Jew- ish Welfare Federation and serves on the board of Sinai Hospital.
