Detroiter Morris Karbal to Be Honored
at Seminary Convocation in Florida

of the Aesculapian Pharmaceutical
Society. Karbel is president of the
National 'Wholesale Drug Co. of
Detroit.

civic affairs, will be cited in Miami
Beach Feb. 28 by the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of America at its
12th annual academic convocation
and dinner.

at a dinner in the Diplomat Hotel,
Hollywood, Karbal will be cited
earlier in the day at the semin-
ary's convocation in Temple
Emanu-El here, with hundreds
witnessing the ceremony.
Karbal will be cited for
"spreading the teachings, mean-
ing and spiritual power of the
Jewish tradition through the
performance of good deeds.
Chairman of the Detroit Com-
mittee for the Jewish Theological
Seminary, Karbal is a member of
the seminary's board of overseers
and a charter members of its Na-
tional Patrons Society.
Vice president of the Hillel and
Akiva day schools, he also-1s a
supporter of Yeshivath Beth Yeh-
uda and Young Israel.
Karbal holds the Yeshiva- Uni-
versity Award, is an "ambassa-
dor" of the university and serves
as co-chairman of the Detroit
Committee for Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity. He also is a sponsor of Heb-
rew University's center of phar-
maceutical sciences.

Freddy's foster parent, the family
struggled to survive on $37.46 a

penter's helper for a family of
seven. Their home is in a squalid
barrio, where they live in a large
room divided in two. One side is
fathers shop, the other living quar-
ters. Water is brought in from a
public faucet.
The Israels' contribution of $16
a month brings the family a
monthly cash grant, distribu-
tions of goods such as vitamins,
blankets, towels, soap and other
