Allen Cohen, son of Mr. and Mrs.

The bride-elect is a senior in the
college of education at Wayne
State University, where she has
been affiliated with Phi Sigma
Sigma Sorority.
Mr. Cohen has a major in ac-
counting at Wayne State, and is
affiliated with Alpha Epsilon Pi
Fraternity.
The couple plans a June wed-
ding.

Local - Woman Wins
1st Award in U.S.
Music Club Contest

A Bloomfield Twp. housewife and
mother of four, Mrs. David (El-
aine) Lebenbom
of Orinoco Cir.,
has won the first
award in the na-
tional competition
of the National
Federation of
Music Clubs, re-
ports Mrs. Mau-
rice Honigmaa
of Gastonia, N.C.
Entries in the
competition for Mrs. Lebenbom
adult nonprofessional composers
were received from music club
members in 23 states. Mrs. Leb-
enbom's winning entry was a piano
solo, which will be performed at
the national convention of the Na-
tional Federation of Music Clubs in
New Orleans in April.
Mrs. Geraldine Schwartz of
Southfield received an honorable
mention.
Mrs. Lebenbom, who holds a
master's degree in musical compo-
sition from the University of Michi-
gan, had forgotten that she en-
tered a composition in this year's
judging and was taken completely
by surprise when she was called
and told that she was the national
winner.

`Success in Learning'
Is—Topic for Parents

"Prerequisites to Success in
Learning" will be considered at
the Feb. 17 meeting of the Beth
Hayeled (nursery school and kin-
dergarten) parents of Cong. Shaa-
rey Zedek in the youth lounge
8:30 p.m.
Dr. Walter Ambinder, professor
of educational and clinical psychol-
ogy at Wayne State University,
will discuss clues to learning prob-
lems, those things required of the
child and guidelines for parents in
fostering a successful school ex-
perience. All are welcome at no
charge. Classrooms will be open
to visitors, and refreshments will
be served.
