Mrs. Di-Nur, who addressed a gathering of the Anglo-Israel Asso- ciation, appealed for the establish- ment of a British movement to en- courage Jewish-Arab cooperation. She said that in her campaign for the establishment of such move- ments in various countries, she had encouraged support from Jews and blood test for diagnosing cancer, at an earlier stage than presently possible. Dr. Chloe Tal, Hebrew Univers- ity-Hadassah Medical Center sen- ior lecturer, disclosed the new cancer test in the November-De- cember issue of the "Israel Jour- nal of Medical Sciences." The new test looks for the pres- ence of the protein, "T-globulin," in the blood. The protein is found only in people with cancer or pregnant women. A positive blood test would indicate either pregnan- cy or cancer. The cancer test was tried on 520 patients at the Hadassah Uni- versity Hospital. The test proved sensitive to 27 types of cancer, in- cluding lung, kidney, prostrate, thyroid, carcinomas of the breast, leukemia and Hodgkin's disease. Dr Tal said that plans are being made to produce the anti-serum used in testing for large-scale ex- perimentation. Cancer experts in the U.S. are cautious about the breakthrough.
