Israel Urged to Adapt to American Immigrants' Needs
TEL AVIV (JTA)-Shinloa Peres

,

minister of transport and commu-
nication, said the increased num-
ber of American Jews emigrating
here requires Israel to make ade-
quate preparations for them.
Speaking to the Haifa Industrial

Club, Peres stressed the impor-
tance of the American immigration
and said that "Israel must make
the conditions here suit the new.
corners."
Observing that the average
American Jew was most likely to

settle in an urban area, he said
Israeli officials should work at
making Jerusalem the center for
such urbanized immigration, and
suggested establishing a university
where the language spoken would
be English rather than Hebrew.
