Dr. and Mrs. Allan A. Marks of
Los Angeles announce the engage-
ment of their daughter Leslie Bar-
bara to Melvin R. Partovich, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Morton Partovich
of Riverside Dr., Southfield.
The bride-elect was graduated
from Michigan State University
with an education degree.
Her fiance, a Phi Beta Kappa
recipient at MSU, attends law
school at the University of Detroit.
The couple plans a summer wed-
ding.

Slobasky-Sage Vows

to Be Said in Summer

LOS ANGELES (JTA) — More
than 1,500 students are enrolled in
the seven Jewish day schools in
Los Angeles, one of them a four-
year high school recognized by the
regents of the University of Cali-
fornia, according to a report by
the Jewish Federation-Council of
Los Angeles. Six of the schools
are Orthodox and one Conserva-
tive, according to Irwin Soref,
executive director of the Los An-
geles Bureau of Jewish Education.
Five of the day schools provide
instruction from nursery school
through the eighth grade and one
is a combined boarding type yeshi-
va high school. According to the
report in the current JFC Bulletin,
Los Angeles was one of the first
major Jewish communities to sup-
port Jewish day schools and has
maintained leadership in this field
