Friday, January 22, 1971-25 Center to Host Arthur Mitchell Rita Grossman Bride THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS and Dance Theater of of Mr. Norman Dines Sholem Aleichem Institute Art Show Arthur Mitchell, lead dancer with the New York City Ballet Company, will present a new dance troupe to Detroit audiences next month. On Feb. 14 at the Jewish Center, Mitchell's all-Black company will present a lecture-demonstration of its skill in ballet, modern and jazz dancing at 3 p.m. in Shiffman Hall. Mitchell started his company — which "would combine the disci- pline of the ballet with the rhyth- mic quality of sense of freedom that marks Negro dancing"—by open- ing a school in the heart of Harlem Noodles?? at the Morningside Avenue Church. Joan Borinstein's Troth Announced at Party For six to eight servings: One and one-half pounds yellow onion Three this. salad oil Three this. butter One tsp. salt One tsp. sugar Three tills. flour Eight cups of vegetable stock One-half cup white wine One-half cap grated Swiss cheese For vegetable stock: Two onions Two carrots One-half celery root Ten sprigs of parsley One bay leaf One clove of garlic Two tsp. salt One-half tsp. pepp:r Ten cups of water 1. Start with the vegetable stock. Clean and pare the vegetables and put them In a pot with the water and season- ings. Bring to a boll, and boll for about thirty minutes. This also will be the time when the onions are ready. 2.Peel the onions and slice them into very torn slices. - 3.In a large skillet, melt the butter with the oil. Saute the onions and cook them over low heat for twenty to thirty minutes, until the onions - are nicely browned. Stir occasionally. Sprinkle with salt, sugar and flour, mix and continue cooking for another two minutes. 4. Separate the vegetables from the stock by either removing them with a slotted spoon or a colander. Com- bine the clear stock with the onions In the pot and cook for about thirty minutes. Taste and correct seasoning, if needed. At this point the soup Is ready. If you plan to serve it later, you can cool it and pre-heat it before serving. 5. Just before serving add the wine, and bring to a strong boll for five min utes.
