More than 1,000 veterans of all faiths—many forgotten on the holidays—were treated to the 18th
annual party tendered by members of Lt. Roy F. Green Post, Jewish War Veterans, at the Battle Creek
Veterans Hospital. Fruit, candy, clothing and sundry items were distributed by the group, led by Phil
Goodman, commander, and Bernard Hoffman, hospital chairman.

lished in Jerusalem. Selected
scholars, both Jews and non-Jews,
who are renowned in all various
branches of Jewish academic life
and cognate learning, have been
invited to Write original essays in
their respective fields of scholastic
endeavor for the "Festschrift."
While most of the articles will be
published in Hebrew, the book will
include writings in the various
other languages as submitted by
the authors invited to participate.
Many professors at Dropsie Uni-
versity, including Dr. Abraham I.
Katsh, president of the post-grad-
uate institution, have been invited
to write articles for this special
jubilee volume which is expected
to keynote President Shazar's
career as a leading Judaica
scholar. Both Ben-Gurion and Dr.
Zeitlin will write- introductions to
the book.
Dr. Zeitlin, in his preface, will
underscore his lifetime associa-
tion and personal friendship
with the chief executive of Is-
rael. During their youth, they
were both students and room-
mates at the Baron David Guns-
berg Academy for Jewish and
Oriental Studies in St. Peters-
burg (Leningrad), Russia, until
prior to the outbreak of World
War I.

works that became best sellers
among the general public and one
of the most controversial writers
in the field of biblical history, Dr

Zeitlin served as editor-in-chief of
the Jewish Quarterly Review for
30 years and is now chairman of
the editorial board of the scholarly
journal. He also was selected as
one of the "Outstanding Educators
of America."
