ZOA President Pledges
to Russian Jews Full
Supped to Go to Israel
NEW YORK — Herman Weis-
man, president of the Zionist Or-
ganization of America, in a policy
statement, on behalf of a national
ZOA membership in the United
States of more than 100,000 mem-
bers, declared: "Soviet Russia can
succeed in making martyrs of Jew-
ish 'show trial' victims but will
fall—has already failed—in its
purpose to suppress a resurgent
Zionism among the masses of
Soviet Jews."
He added, "If this intent to
emigrate from Russia as sanc-
tioned by the Declaration of Hu-
man Rights of the United Nations
can so readily be converted into
treason—as these Leningrad ver-
dicts do—then all the three mil-
lion and more of Soviet Jews are
in jeopardy."
The ZOA president pledges to
Russian Jewry "full support of
their struggle for the right to leave
for Israel, to live in Zion in free-
dom and security."

What You Eat
Some people have a foolish way
of not minding, or of pretending
not to mind, what they eat. For
my part, I mind my belly very
studiously and very carefully; for
I look upon it that he who does
not mind his belly will hardly
mind anything else. — Samuel
Johnson.
