Gribbs and his wife Katherine at his home in Jerusalem while the Gribbscs were part of a delegation of U.S. mayors touring Israel as guests of the Israel Mayors Association, the ministry of tourism and the mayor of Jerusalem. The latter, Teddy Kollek, greeted them at a dinner in the Israel Museum that evening. Shazar told the mayors that lie had visited virtually all the cities they represent and he said the "bond between Israel and America is unique. Following the reception at the president's home, the mimics were conducted on a tour of Jer- usalem, one of their many stops during their week-long visit of Israel aimed at encouraging more exchange between Ameri- cans and Israelis. In Jerusalem, they inspected the Hadassah-Hebrew University Med- ical Center, the university campus, and the Old City. The mayors met with their counterparts in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Natanya, Tiberias, Nazareth and Bethlehem, as well. as Jerusalem. They spent time at kibutzim, and at the urban homes of Israelis, in addition to touring the country's historical and- religious sites. They visited the medical center as members of a group of 10 U.S. mayors on a study tour of Israel, guests of the Israel Foreign- Ministry, the ministry of tourism and El Al Airlines. The mayor discussed problems of medicine and health in Israel and America with Prof. Kalman J. The committee on control is composed of the leading officers of the United Jewish Appeal, the Council of Jewish Federations and • Welfare Funds and the Jewish Agency for Israel. The agreement provides that "in those instances where such dinners have already been , scheduled, the committee on con- trol and authorization of cam- paigns of the Jewish . Agency- American Section will confer with the communities involved to obtain necessary clearances for these dates or to arrange alternative dates." In its acceptance of ,"the high- est priority of American Jewry" for the 1971 United Jewish Appeal Emergency Fund, the JNF calls it "the greltest fund-raising ef- fort in Jewish history." The agree- ment was signed by Mrs. Jacob- son and Herman L. Weisman, president of the Jewish National Fund.
