JERUSALEM (JTA) - Baruch
Zuckerman, founder of Poalei
Zion, co-founder of the World Jew-
ish Congress and a leading Zionist
ideologist, died here Dec. 13 at age
83.
Mr. Zuckerman, who was born
near Vilna, Lithuania, came to the
United States in 1904, in which
year he formed Poalei Zion and
became its national president. He
co-founded the Effstadrut cam-
paign in 1923, after aiding David
Ben-Gurion and Yitzhak Ben-Zvi
in obtaining volunteers for the
Jewish Legion in World War I.
In 1949, he became a member
of the American section of the
Jewish Agency, serving as head
of its Latin American division.
He was editor of the Poalei Zion
weekly Zichronot, and a prolific
writer who published a three-vol-
ume autobiography between 1963
and 1966. He also was known as
an orator and as the mentor of
Golda Meir. He settled in Israel
after his retirement in 1956.

Dr. Harry Symons, Detroit den-
tist sonce 1933, died Dec. 11 at
age 61.
Dr. Symons, whose office was at
7605 Puritan, was a 1933 graduate
of the University's dental schooL
He was born in Latvia and lived
in the Detroit area 50 years. A
member of the American, Mich-
igan and Detroit dental societies,
he resided at 12811 Northfield,
Oak Park.

Dr. Edward Weiss, 81,
Early Freud Colleague
CHICAGO-Dr. Edward Weiss,
an early associate of Sigmund
Freud and author of books and
papers on psychoanalysis, died
Wednesday at age 81.
An early member of the Psycho-
analytic Society of Vienna, he
founded the Italian Psychoanalytic
Society and came to Chicago in
1941. He had a private practice
there and served on the faculty of
the Institute for Psychoanalysis, a
school for training of psychoana-
lysts.
Harold R. Bordman, owner and
operator of the Dawn Drug Co., a
retail drug store at 8357 Gratiot,
was shot fatally last Saturday as he
was trying to make a night de-
posit at a bank near his store.
Police seek two men reportedly
involved in the shooting. Mr. Bord-
man, 22323 LaSeine, Southfield,
was found by police, who took him
to Detroit General Hospital, where
he died an hour later.
Mr. Bordman, 60, had owned the
store for eight years. He had been
a president of the Detroit Retail
Druggist Association and a mem-
ber of Perfection Lodge of the
Masons and Aeseulapian Society.
A native of Russia, he lived in the
Detroit area for 45 years. He was
a graduate of the Detroit Institute
of Technology's school of pharm-
acy.
Survivors are his wife, Isabelle;
two sons, Myron and Stuart; a
sister Mrs. Emanuel (Blanche)
Bauman; and one grandchild.

Killed in Air Crash
HAIFA (JTA) - Funeral serv-
ices were held here for Prof. Pin-
has Naor, dean or industrial engi-
neering at the. Haifa Technion,
who was killed with 26 others in •
the crash of a Romanian airliner
near Constanza Dec. 7.
The plane was on a flight from
Tel Aviv to Bucharest.
In addition to Prof. Naor, Jews
who perished were identified as
Nissim Bechar, a recent immi-
grant from Romania who was re-
turning there for a brief visit,
Samuel and Aharon Deutch, Esther
Fisch, Malka Goldis, P. Preiss and
Hayim Leizar. Two Israelis among
the eight survivors of the crash
were identified as Adrian Bruck
and Nathan Bernard.
Prof. Naor's remains were plac-
ed in the main hall of the Tech-
nion, where students and faculty
members paid tribute to their late
teacher and colleague.

years, died. Dec. U at age 54. Mr.
Marcus was originator and for-
mer member of Tam '0 Shanter
Country Club.
A native Detroiter, Mr. Marcus
belonged to Temple Israel. He
lived at 30410 Southfield, in South-
field.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley;
a son, Gary; his mother, Mrs_Net-
tie Rubin; and two grandchildren.
