London's famous Bond Street has
been recreated at the Evening
Tobacconist, 19125 W. McNichols,
a new store for men that women
equally will enjoy.
Larry Sebastian, proprietor, has
created a shop with antiquity and
atmosphere — mahogany cabinets
and showcases built more than 50
years ago and restored in warm
dark stains; soft green wood pan-
eling and dark mahogany molding;
deep red carpeting and soft light-
ing from old-fashioned chandeliers.
A shrubbed terrace garden sur-
rounded by a tiled walkway give
easy access from the street.
On display are more than 1,000
briar and Meerschaum pipes made
by 33 different manufacturers all
over the world. A walk-in humidor
features cigars from all over the
world, including famous brands
formerly made in Cuba and stored
in bond from before the embargo.

For the woman in search of a
man's gift, there are swords
from Spain and Italy, beer steins
and drinking mugs from Ger-
many and Ireland, brass spitoons
from England, men's cutlery
from Switzerland, handmade
ship models from Spain, shille-
laghs from Ireland.

Chess sets also are a specialty.
They range from wood, onyx and
alabaster to porcelain and bronzed

and pewter castings.
The Tobacconist blends 24 cus-
tom pipe tobacco mixtures, and
smokers are welcome to sample
the various blends. A full selection
of brand tobacco also is stocked.
Hours are noon-9 p.m. weekdays,
10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays (to 9 p.m.
till Dec. 25) and 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Sundays.
