Dr. Emanuel Neumann, chair- man of the Herzl Press, said the encyclopedia will contain 1,320 pages and nearly 3,000 articles with 800 illustrative photographs, maps and charts. He said the vol- umes are being published under the patronage of President Zal- man Shazar, of Israel and were edited by Dr. Raphael Patai. They contain contributions from 285 scholars from 35 countries, all ex- perts in their particular fields. According to Dr. Neumann, the encyclopedia has been six years in the making and in- dudes about 1,000 biographies and 1,000 articles on towns, vil- lages and place names in Israel.
