ALMOST 400 PEOPLE packed
into the new Black Forest Inn at
its open house preview day before
opening . . . and were feted to a
gala good time at one of the most
beautiful dining and cocktail spots
around . . . Located on S. Wash-
ington- near 11 Mile Rd. in Royal
Oak. the Black Forest Inn is al-
ready a much talked about restaur-
ant-nitery . . . Bernie Moorin and
Co. is responsible for the beautiful
design and effect that accentuates
Bavarian old country decor .. .In
the cocktail lounge that seats 100,
a real tree seems to grow out of
the floor . . . plus' a fireplace.
black leather chairs and booths,
European lamp posts and wine
kegs on the wall, rough cedar
and stucco, etc. . . . General Man-
ager Tony Nestico's wife. Pauline;
is responsible for making the very
lovely peasant outfits worn by the
waitresses . . . The 100-seating ca-
pacity dining room continues on
with the European motif, including
the very continental "salad bar"
with up to 40 items on it . .. Up-
stairs is a banquet room that seats
up to 400 .. . and here's a bet I
won't lose . . . that no like spot
has more men's and women's
rooms-21! . . . Bernie and Tony
took a 25-year-old building that
housed a furniture store (Royal
Oak Furniture) and completely
renovated it from the ground up.
inside and out . . . with the end
result being the Black Forest Inn
that so many people have been
waiting for!
BOBBY LAUREL, very fine
pianist-vocalist and his popular
trio, opened a limited one-month
engagement last Monday in the
Lunar Lounge of The Moon in
Hazel Park.
"BALD" IS HERE . . --opening

panied by the satiric songs of Rudy

Gene -Rosenberg, who are also
president and- vice president, re-
spectively, of parent company Gen-
eral Entertainment 'Carp. . . .

Kutasky, chairman; Dr. Henry
Sonenshien, vice Ashman; Mar-
vin =thy, secretary, and Dr.
Jerome Conger-. - 13 Investors in

a lawyer and two ilinMeessinen - .

CUSTOMER LOYALTY W A S
truly eitensplifled recently at An-
gala Bear Glass es W. Mcifichels,
west et Southfield - . A regular
casts= took a fancy to one of the
large ash trays and Angel gave it
to kin for Ms apartment . . . But
all was not so smooth for the gift
getter ... Holding the ash tray and
entering his ear in the parking lot,
be was suddenly beseiged by cus-
tomers Seizes Chase, Lee Jaffee
and Esther Miller, who promptly
marched him back ... It was after
2 a.m. so they banged on the door

until Angel came and opened it ...
while the angry gals screeched,
"He stole your ash tray and better
give it back or else!" ... The-poor
man pleaded with Angel to tell
them she had given it to him .. .
She did, but Selma, Lee and Es-
ther told her not to stick up* for
the "thief." ... Finally, however,
Angel convinced them to let the
man go . . . To this day, however,
the girls insist he took the ash
tray, and woe be on him if he
ever touches anything again at
Angel's while they are there!

THE PIPERS all-night eatery
on W. 10 Mile Rd. between
Southfield and Evergreen, is get-
ting a good reputation for its
food, lunches, dinners or snacks
. . . The dinners are being fea-
tured so that all-you-can-eat spe-
cials have been inaugurated for
Monday, Tuesday and Wednes-
day evenings.

SAM BOESKY and Bernie Ker-
ner have their Darby's Stanley
Steamer going full blast now in
Oak Park .. Quite a transition
from one of America's leading
restaurants to a health club . . .
but Sam and son Bernie are used
to the top and are well on the way
to gaining a like reputation for
their Steamer.
