Mrs. Adler to Receive Eleanor Roosevelt
Humanitarian Award at Israel Bond Dinner

Itzhak Rabin, ambassador of Is-
rael to the United States, will con-
fer the award.
Louis Berry will be the dinner
chairman.
The award is being presented to
Mrs. Adler for her dedication to
the synagogue, the community and
to the Israel Bond cause, of which
she has been a leader since the in-
ception of the Bond drive in 1951.
Mrs. Adler and Rabbi Adler
came to Detroit in 1938. Since then
she has been associated with
many civic and Jewish causes. She

Chapter of Hadassah and recently
was the recipient of the Hadassah
Myrtle Wreath Award.

Mizrachi Launches Membership Drive

Inaugurating a two-month mem-
bership drive, Detroit Mizrachi-
Hapoel Hamizrachi announces the
designation of Sabbath Hanuka-
Dec. 26—as Mizrachi Membership
Sabbath.
Rabbis have been asked to de-
vote their sermons on that Sab-
bath to Mizrachi's objectives.
Inauguration of the drive was
announced at a meeting of De-
troit Mizrachi last week, at the
home of Rabbi Ernest Greenfield,
assistant to the Mizrachi president
for organization and cultural af-
fairs.

Zvi Tonakiewicx, executive di-
rector of Detroit Mizrachi, an-
nounced that the membership
drive will continue through De-
cember and January. A public
meeting to be addresed by na-
tional leaders will culminate
the drive.

ed in New York and taught Eng-

lish and Hebrew before her mar-
riage to Rabbi Adler.
She is the mother of Mrs. Eli
(Shulamith) Benstein and the
grandmother of Judy, Jeremy and
Joel.
Mrs. Louis Berry will be the
grand hostess at this dinner.
Rabbi Irwin Groner and Dr.
Krohn are honorary dinner chair-
men.
A feature of the dinner will be
the kindling of the Israel Menora
of Life, consisting of 12 branches,
one for each of the Twelve Tribes
of Israel and bearing the inscrip-
tion "Am Yisrael Hai"—"The
People of Israel Lives," first
kindled on Mount Herzl in Jeru-
salem on the eve of Israel's 22nd
anniversary. The Israel Menora
of Life is now being rekindled in
communities throughout the world,
in prayer and dedication to the
survival of the land and the.people
of Israel.
