Sadat Urges Hussein to Strengthen Forces Against Israeli Foe LONDON (JTA)—President An- war Sadat of Egypt urged King Hussein of Jordan last week in Cairo to concentrate on the strengthening of Arab military forces against Israel. It was their first meeting since Sadat was inaugurated as succes- sor to the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Informed sources said that Presi- dent Sadat was concerned with the so-called Arab eastern command against Israel, which has been vir- tually non-existent since the Jor- danian civil war in September. He reportedly sought to impress King Hussein with the importance of coordinating Arab strength in the east, which he said, could not be done as long as internal dis- sensions continued in Jordan, Syria and Iraq. According to reports, King Hus- sein reportedly stressed the new stability of his regime since the civil war and claimed that his government was fully implement- ing its agreements with the Pal- estinian guerrillas. He agreed that military coordination of his forces with Egypt's was neces- sary. King Hussein did not ask for a new Arab summit meeting to dis- cuss the future status of the Pal- estinians, as he had been expected to do. Observers here said he might make the request after his forthcoming round of talks in Lon- don, Paris and Washington.
