Dr. S. E. Gould, 70, Noted Pathologist

Dr. S. Emmanuel Gould. world
renowned pathologist, died Nov.
29 in Miami at age 70.
Dr. Gould. a lifelong Detroiter
before retiring to Miami seven
years ago, was chief of pathology
for 30 years at Wayne County Gen-
eral Hospital. He also held that
position for the Atomic Bomb
Casualty Commission in Hiroshima
1966-67.
Dr. Gould was a full professor
at Wayne State University for
many years, and was author and
editor of numerous books. He was
a member of the American Medic-
al Association, the American So-
ciety of Clinical Pathologists and
the American College of Patho-
logists.
He leaves his wife. Minna; a
son. Mark of Coral Gables; a daugh-

JERUSALEM - Alberto Gori,
Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, died
here Nov. 25 at age 81.
Alberto Gori first came to the
Holy Land in Italian uniform dur-
ing World War I. Serving the
church in Jerusalem since the
1920s, he cared for holy sites dur-
ing the War of Liberation.
In 1949, Monsignor -Gori was
named archbishop of Jerusalem.
On March 23, 1953, on a visit to
Jaffa, he was honored by Israeli
officials.
Israeli Religious Affairs Minis-
ter Dr. Zerah Wahrhaftig expressed
condolences to Latin Patriarch
Gori's successor, the Most Rev.
James Joseph Beltritti.

Jewish Children Agency
Gets School Work Grant

PHILADELPHIA (JTA) -The
Association for Jewish Children
has received a grant of $10,000
from the Philadelphia Foundation
to finance the training of grad-
uate social work students, it was
announced by Irving Schwartz,
association president.
The program, initiated last year.
established a training unit for stu-
dents from the University of Penn-
sylvania's school of social work
and the Bryn • Mawr College's
graduate department of social
work and social research. Students
assigned to the association for
field work placement participate
in varied phases of agency serv-
ices7--foster home care, residence
care, family day care and services
in the home to prevent foster
placement.
