Mrs. Morris T. Brandwine Chairing
Allied Campaign Women's Division
Mrs. Morris T. Brandwine has
been named chairman of the
women's division of the 1971 Allied
Jewish Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund, Mrs. Max Stollman,
division president, announced.
Mrs. Brandwine has held many
posts with the division, including
vice president. She is now a mem-
ber of the board and last year
was executive vice chairman of

year-round programs of the wom-
en's division, as well as the cam-
paign for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Melvin Kolbert, chairnian
of pre-campaign for the division
is heading Its activities for a
second year. She will be assisted

Brewster Broder, Louis Berry,

Deutsch and A. Alfred Taubman.
Campaign activities in the wom-
en's division are already well
under way.
Pre-campaign workers will hold
a briefing meeting 10 a.m. Tues-
day at the home of Mrs. Taubman,
28755 Bell, Southfield. A special
meeting designed to familiarize
division leaders with the tech-
niques of briefing workers will be
held 12:30 p.m. Monday at the
home of Mrs. Bruce Thal, 13300
Victoria, Huntington Woods. The
new briefing programs devised
under the leadership of Mrs.
Nathan Peterman, briefing chair-
man, will be tried out on the divi-
sion chairman as if they were the
workers.
A demonstration of these briefing
techniques by Mrs. Broder at the
recent meeting of the Council of
Jewish Federations and Welfare
Funds in Kansas City has brought
many requests for information
from communities throughout the
country.

ings and drawings comprise an
exhibit, "Wayne State University
in Italy," on display at WSU's

Dec. 12. The students' travel-study

Jewish Center Symphony to Present
Violin, Piano Competition Winners
Pianist Beth Rhodes and violin-
ist Ida Kavafian, winners of the
Jewish Center's 1970 violin and
piano competition, will solo in the
second in a series of Sunday after-
noon concerts presented by the
Center Symphony Orchestra under
the direction of Julius Chajes, 3
p.m. Sunday at the Center.
Miss Rhodes. 19, studied piano
with Chajes for nine years, and
both she and Chajes received the
National Baldwin Keyboard Award
in 1966. She appeared as soloist
with the Center Symphony Orches-
tra on several occasions and last
year was soloist with the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra under the
direction of Arthur Fiedler. At
present, she is studying with Ozan
Marsh at the University of Arizona.
On the Center program, she will be
heard in Prokofiev's 1st Piano Con-
certo.
Miss Havailan, 18, was born in
IstanbuL She has been concert.
master for the World Youth Sym-
phony at Interlochen, the Jail-
Hard Pre-College Division Or-
chestra and the Michigan Youth
Orchestra. Having soloed with
the Flint Symphony, Grosse
Pointe Symphony and Detroit
Women's Symphony, she is on a
full scholarship with Ivan Gala-
menial% at the JuUlLsrd School

of the bride's aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Fenster of

vice president of NFTY, has
served as an adviser to the student
senate at Northwestern University
and lecturer in its department of

chaplain.
Ordained at Hebrew Union Col-
lege-Jewish Institute of Religion,
Rabbi Skirball was co-editor of
"The Jewish Youth Group" and
several articles.
The music department of Cass
Technical High School will present
a HOLIDAY CONCERT 8:15 p.m.
today in the auditorium. The con-
cert and symphony bands will be
directed by Jack Shelby, and the
harp and vocal ensemble led by
Miss Velma Froude. Tickets can
