Orthodox Students
Launch Newspaper

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (JTA) — A
project unique to Jewish journal-
ism is being launched by a group
of Orthodox Brooklyn College stu-
dents, it was announced here.
Elly Rosen, executive director
of the Jewish Cultural Institute at i
Brooklyn College, told the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency that because

there has been a "lack of a sound-
ing board for the views and activi-

ties of Orthodox youth on cam-
pus," the forthcoming publication
of a new newspaper, Bas Kol, is
to be written by, and aimed spe-
cifically at, Orthodox college youth.
Bas Kol is to have an initial
publication of 25,000 ccpies and

will eventually be distributed in
all the colleges of the City Uni-
versity system. It will be edited

by Yitta Halberstam, 19-year-old
sophomore at Brooklyn College,
and Yossi Templeman, 24-year-
old graduate cf Brooklyn College
and doctoral candidate at City

College.

Bnai Brith Women Run

Anti-Smoking Clinic

WASHINGTON (JTA) — A Bnai
Brith Women's chapter has re-
ported that its first clinic to per-
suade, people to stop smoking had
a performance record of 16 per-
sons quitting the habit out of 58
field in New Jersey is planning to
start its third clinic this winter.
The program began when the
participants found there was no
smoking withdrawal clinic in the
area and decided to see what it
could do to fill the gap.
