Mrs. Jay Frank of Twycking-
ham Way, Southfield, announces
the engagement of her daughter
Lynne Sharon to Dale Elliott Le-
bow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton
J. Lebow of Private Lake Rd.,
Birmingham. The bride-elect is
the daughter of the late Mr.
Frank.
A February wedding is being
planned.

Prof. David Maeir, director of
the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jeru-
salem, will evaluate the opportuni-
ties and challenges facing the hos-
pital at a meeting of Detroit friends
8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Young Israel
Center of Oak-Woods.
A cocktail-buffet party in honor
of Dr. Maeir will precede the meet-
ing at 6:30 p.m. in the home of
Dr. and Mrs. Leon Herschfus, 17090
Jeanette, Southfield.
Rabbi Joshua Sperka is president
of Detroit Friends of Shaare Zedek
Hospital in Jerusalem, which has
scheduled its annual dinner for
Jan. 31 at the Jewish Center.
Prof- Mack, born Ist 152$ to
Rabbi and Mrs. Maeir Llishitz of
New York, was educated in New
York yesblvoL He received a
bachelors degree from Yeshiva
University, where he also studied
at the Hebrew Teachers College
and the Rabbi Isaac Eichanan
rabbinical seminary.
A graduate of the University of
Ottawa's school of medicine, he
did studies in clinical and anatomic
pathology there. He has published
a number of papers in the Held.
Before assuming the directorship
of Shaare Zedek in 1968, Dr. Maeir
was associate professor of patho-
logy at the Albert Einstein College
of Medicine at Yeshiva University

and director of anatomic pathology
at its university hospital.
During the Korean War, Prof.
Maeir served with the. U.S. Air
Force and directed an air force
hospital laboratory. He spent a
sabbatical year as a Fulbright
scholar at the Hebrew University
in Jerusalem in 1963-64.
Dr. Maeir has embarked upon a
program of expansion and rebuild-
ing at Shaare Zedek, realizing the
plans of his predecessor, Dr. Falk
Schlesinger. The two-phase pro-
gram includes the erection of the
new medical center and expansion
of the present hospital into a mod-
em facility nad the enlargement of
its staff and patient capacity in
preparation for the transfer of
Shaare Zedek to its new quarters.
