Per- sonalities in the Orthodox community will address the women, who will explore today's changing societal patterns and their impact on women and their families. Local women planning to attend include Mesdames Seymour Ribiat, president of the Great Lakes Chapter, wom- en's branch; Hyman Groskind, president of Young Israel of Oak-Woods Sisterhood; and Carl Zalev, president, and Louis Parnes, delegate, respectively, of Shaar Hashomayim Sisterhood. The national executive committee of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. will convene in Washington. D.C. this weekend, at the Dupont Circle Hotel. Mrs. Harry L. Friedmin, president of the Department of Michigan, will attend, along with Mrs. John Nemon, past national president and a member of the national budget committee; and Mrs. Jack Iden, national education and scholarship chairman. He said the unity of the Jewish community, support of Israel and support for the rights of Jews everywhere, particularly in the Soviet Union and the Arab states, are the main concerns of the orga- nization. It also will continue to fight local anti-Semitism which "regrettably persists," he said • • Rabbi BERNARD M. COHEN, the nation's first rabbi to serve on the faculty of a Roman Catholic college, was installed as rabbi of Sinai Temple, Springfield, Mass., with 100 Catholic and Protestant clergymen looking on. The instal- lation included the participation of two Catholic nuns from Indiana, a rabbi from Indianapolis and a min- ister from Michigan, the Rev. LOUIS GERHARDT of Southfield, chairman of the National Associa- tion of Congregational Ministers. Rabbi Cohen taught history at St. Mary of the Woods College in In- diana for eight years. • 0 • Rabbi MILTON ROSENBAUM of Temple Emanu-El is among the rabbis chosen from 33 communi- ties in the United States and Can- ada to attend the 39th general assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds at the Muehleban Hotel, Kansas City, as recipients of the "Rab- binical Awards" of the federa- tions, councils and welfare funds of their local communities. Israel on Good-Will Team; Mayors of Leningrad and Natanya Eye Exchange LE HAVRE (JTA)—At the clos- ing session of the meeting of the International Federation of Twin Cities' executive committee, Oved Ben Ami, mayor of Natanya, who represented Israel, proposed that a good-will mission, composed of representatives of Western and Eastern cities, should be sent to Britain and North and South Am- erica, to recruit more members for the federation and to promote international understanding and the brotherhood of man. The proposal was adopted, and Israel was nominated as a mem- ber of the mission which is ex- pected to go out in February or March.
