Lord Passfield Said Dr. Chaim Weizmann's resignation as presi-
dent of the Zionist Exgcutive on charges of immigration restrictions
in Palestine "can be due only to an imperfect appreciation of the gov-
ernment's attitude and intentions." Winston Churchill, calling Passfield
"an aged minister who has long been anxious to seek repose," called
for a League of Nations guarantee of a Jewish National Home. The
anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, was marked at an anti-British
rally in Madison Square Garden.
Keren Hayesod, the Palestine Foundation Fund, marked its 10th
anniversary.
British archeologists in Jerusalem •said the walls of Jericho were
toppled by shovels, with trumpets serving as a cover-up.
Dr. Karl Landsteiner, winner of a Nobel Prize for the discovery
of human blood groups, was honored by the University of Vienna, which
had blocked a professorship for him because he was Jewish.

Soviet weapons, in larger numbers, are being steadily directed to
Nasser." Foreign Minister Golda Meir called the shipments "a special
reason for concern."
Two Mapam ministers exited a Cabinet meeting when Premier
David Ben-Gurion refused to name one of their party to a committee
investigating the "Lavon Affair" on grounds that a Mapam spokesman
had called it another Dreyfus case.
Princeton University's office of population research said American
Jews were more adept at planned parenthood than non-Jews "because
they want to be able to send those they have to college."
American Jewish Committee president Herbert H. Ehrman reported
a "growing international network of Nazism," with Egypt having
"provided refuge to a considerable number of former Nazis who
escaped from Germany and who are serving as advisers to that country
in its propaganda campaign against Israel."
Presidential candidate John F. Kennedy pledged that if elected he
would "waste no time in taking the initiative for peace (in the Mid
East)," and "all the authority of the White House will be used toward
that end."
