TIE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, October 23,1970-3 ee 13 Detroiters Join UJA Mission Thirteen prominent Detroiters, leaders in the Allied Jewish Cam- paign-Israel Emergency Fund, will participate in the United Jewish Appeal's two-week fact-finding mis- sion to Israel. Joining the nearly 400 American Jewish leaders on the mission will be William Avrunin, Abraham Borman, Leonard Borman, Mr. and Mrs. Jay M. Kogan, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Seligman, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hechtman, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sloan, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zuckerman. Zuckerman, a national chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, re- cently visited Israel at the invita- tion of Prime Minister Golda Meir, and will serve as chairman of the sub-mission. During the mission the partici- pants will make an extensive sur- vey of the social welfare pro- grams in Israel which are sup- ported by funds collected during the Allied Jewish Campaign-Israel Emergency Fund. These include programs for immigration and ab- sorption, vocational training and higher education. level Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Golda Meir, For- eign Minister Abba Eban, Min- ister of Finance Pinhas Sapir and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. The mission members will re- ceive first hand information which will enable them to carry out their roles as leaders in mobilizing fi- nancial support for the people of Israel through the 1971 fund-rais- ing drive.
