• THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, October 16,1970-37 Paul Kadish Takes On Republican Opponent \\NPISCIO4nly The Best of Everything LARCO'S D e Italian-American Cuisine Prepared for the Discerning Taste By Danny Raskin • BANQUET FACILITIES Remember when the Martians invaded our comedians and comedy writers? .. . You couldn't scan a newspaper column or visit a night club or watch your television with- out running into a Martian . . . They even had a song here on earth, "Take Me To Your Leader, Cha-cha-cha." . . . We could have raised a lot of money for our planet bk taxing all those Martians run- ning around looking for their leader . . . Anyway, those outer space guys weren't so smart . If they had any brains they would have gone right to their leader instead of asking everybody for directions . . . I wonder if Mars- niks are telling earth stories up there . . I can just picture our Martian rocketing to his home on Mars Boulevard late one night and explaining to his dear wife Now: Open Sunday 12 Noon 7523 W. McNichols Rd. FrL & SeL 12 liene•12 - (Jest E. of Greenfield) MOW PAWNS M REAR NINO • "Couldn't help it, dear, I was caught in a traffic jam in New York." . . . One thing was for sure . . . a woman would never have been the first human being to set foot on the moon on account of she wouldn't know what to wear for the event . . Outer space is like juvenile delinquency—the more we study it the more there seems to be . . . With our Navy launching rockets it won't be long before sailors have a girl on every planet. . . . Today's comedians can justi- fiably claim their jokes are "out of this world" . . . We can hear you saying, "I wish they were there with them!" . . . One Martian ap- proached a bop musician who told him, "No use taking you to my leader—he isn't hiring tenors this week." . . . Everybody knows that the man in the moon gets lit up almost every night so why is every- body sending him a shot? .. . So this Martian came to earth, stepped into a taxi and said, "Take me to your leader." "Sorry," said the cabby, "I'm pulling into my ga- rage." . . . A Martian stopped a man on the street and told him, "Take me to your leader." "Oh, I can't," answered the fellow. "She's in Florida with my mother-in- law." . .. A spaceship landed on Broadway and out popped a neur- otic Martian who stopped a fellow and said, "Take me to your lead- er's psychiatrist." . . . When a rocket scientist got into an argu- ment with his wife, his friends ad- vised him to count down to zero before he lost his temper . . . etc, etc. etc. etc. Terrific entertainer to appear at the coming Detroit Businessmen's Group, City of Hope Champagne Dinner Dance. Nov. 1, at Raleigh House, is singer Tony Darryll . . On the bill with George Kirby re- cently at the Elmwood, Tony lit- erally took the show away from George . . . and has already been labeled for quick stardom . . . President Harry Brodsky's an- nounced goal for the great City of Hope Pilot Medical Center is $ 150, 000. Sir Richard's in the Crestwood Motel on W. Eight Mile Rd., is a most unusual delicatessen- restaurant . . . First one I know of that serves beer with its corned beef sandwiches . . . Sir Rich- ard's has a good varied menu, from '7 a.m. until 10 p.m- daily, and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saints and Sinners meeting will be held this Monday evening at 7 at Angel's Hour Glass, 18800 W. McNichols, six blocks west of Southfield - .. Members and pros- pects are invited to attend the "good time" get together by this wonderful group of men whose time is dedicated to having fun while helping mentally retarded children . . . Remember the date. If you're in- the mood to leave the driving to them, that ever- faithful double-decker British bus is still on hand by Chuck Muer at Hotel Pontchartrain for getting out to Tiger Stadium for the Lions' home games . . . Those Sunday brunches in Cabaret LaBoheme before each game—excellent! Waterford's new Voyager Restair- rant, which opened this summer, in the Oakland-Pontiac Airport Terminal Bldg. in Pontiac, is be- coming very well noted . . . De- troiter Ed Paley, globe-girdling air travel executive of big industry and industrial developer Ray Rinke are gambling that Detroit area residents will drive to this airport to watch the planes land and take off, and partake of their choice from the large selection of Voy- ager's menu. State Senate candidate Paul Ka- dish, Democrat of Livonia, has challenged his Republican oppon- ent to repudidate the economic policies of the Nixon administra- tion which, he claims, have brought unemployment and continued in Elation to the people of the 14th District. "Many families in the 14th Dis- trict are much worse off financially as a result of these policies, yet my opponent says he supports them. Does this mean that he will blindly follow disastrous policies just because they are being car- ried out by his own -political party?" he said.
