Coun cil President Lawrence Gubo will convene the assembly at 8: ■ p.m. at the Jewish Center. George Gruen, Israel and Middl East specialist in the foreign of fairs department of the America Jewish Committee, will focus hi s talk on those factors which c have an important effect on th future relationships between Israe and the American Jewish commu nity. - During the business portion the assembly, Council Executiv Director Walter Klein will repo rt on Council activity during th e summer and bring delegates up to _date on current actions. These in elude the "Soviet Jewry Week in Detroit" project scheduled for th e week of Oct. 18; Council's o wn Soviet Jewry . Conference Oct. 25; a candidate questionnaire whic h has been prepared by the Coun cil and sent to congressional and state legislative candidates; Council sup- port of the 8100,000,000 state bond- ing proposal, which will appear on the ballot in November; and Coun- cil action with respect to the "parochiaid amendment" which also will be voted on in November. Gruen is a graduate of the Middle East Institute at Colum- bia University and also holds a degree in Hebrew literature from the Cellege of Jewish Studies of the Jewish Theological Seminary. He has served as a lecturer on international relations at Colum- bia and has written extensively on Middle East issues.
